Chỉ tình cảnh khi mất chỗ dựa, hết thế lực hoặc hết đường xoay xở thì bản chất, thân phận hay sự thật bị phơi bày rõ ràng. Thường dùng để nói người sa cơ lỡ vận bị dồn đến bước cùng cực.
